You may notice that trips recorded in the past still show incorrect From or To locations — even after you have updated your saved location zones or Work/Home addresses. This is expected behavior and does not mean something is wrong with your current setup. This article explains why it happens and the options available to correct historical trips.
Why do old trips keep the wrong location?
TripLog assigns From and To locations to a trip at the time it is recorded, based on the saved location zones active at that moment. Updating a saved zone afterward does not retroactively re-assign trips that were already recorded under the old zone. As a result, trips from before the zone change will continue to display the previous location name until they are manually corrected.
Why doesn't the Fix Trip tool correct the location names?
The Fix Trip tool corrects a trip's From and To locations by reading the first and last GPS waypoints recorded on the driving route — it does not consult your saved location zones. This means:
If the GPS route data is available and accurate, Fix Trip will update the location based on where you physically started and ended — which may or may not match your saved zone names.
If the trip does not have a driving route with 2 or more waypoints, Fix Trip will not process it at all.
Fix Trip will not rename a location to match a saved zone — it sets the raw address from the GPS coordinates.
For this reason, Fix Trip is not the right tool when the goal is to reassign trips to a specific saved location name.
How to correct historical trips
Option 1 — Edit a single trip manually
For individual trips, you can directly edit the From or To location in the Trip Detail view.
Open the trip in the web dashboard or mobile app.
Tap or click the From or To field.
Type the name of the saved location or enter the correct address and select it from the suggestions.
Save the trip.
Note: If editing the From/To field is not saving correctly, ensure you are selecting a result from the location dropdown rather than leaving free-form text in the field.
Option 2 — Bulk-edit multiple trips
If a large number of historical trips need to be updated, you can use the multi-select edit feature in the web dashboard.
Go to Trips in the web dashboard.
Filter by the date range that contains the affected trips.
Select the trips you want to update using the checkboxes.
Open the Edit menu and choose the appropriate location update option.
Important: Bulk edits apply the same change to all selected trips. Review your selection carefully before applying.
Option 3 — Verify your zones are correct going forward
To prevent this from occurring on future trips, confirm your saved location zones are set up correctly before your next recorded trip.
Go to Settings > Locations (web dashboard) or the Saved Locations section in the mobile app.
Review each saved location and confirm the zone radius covers your actual start and end points.
Save any changes. New trips recorded after this point will use the updated zones.
