How much data usage should I expect?
The app uses a very small amount of mobile data to look up street addresses and upload trip records to the web server. Receiving GPS signals doesn't use mobile data and is free. Users can also turn off mobile data usage for TripLog, and the app will sync data over WiFi the next time the app is opened.
How does traveling through rural or poor cell-coverage areas affect mileage capture?
Trips are captured using the device's built-in GPS technology, not cellular connectivity, so GSM or cellular connectivity doesn't affect tracking. If you're traveling through rural areas, trips will be captured accurately, within the limits of the phone's built-in GPS capabilities. Once back in data coverage, cellular or wifi, the app will backfill locations recorded as Lat/Long coordinates with the reverse-geocoded addresses. Any missing addreses can be filled in the locations tab.
Syncing Data with the Cloud and Web App
Throughout the day, updates in the app or some manual actions will cause the app to send incremental updates and sync with the web and cloud. These should sync across devices as they are connected.
Multiple Devices
While data will sync across multiple devices logged into the same account, only one app will be able to track while connected. You'll be prompted to choose the primary device when logging into your second device. This is to prevent issues with devices that may be logged into the same account in different locations as this would cause datas corruption.
